As part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the importance of protecting digital systems, the Standing Committee for Information Security and Cybersecurity organized a lecture titled “The Importance of Cybersecurity in the Era of Digital Transformation” on Wednesday morning at the Al-Biruni Hall in the administrative building.
The lecture was delivered by Eng. Ali Ramadan Ismail, Director of the Department of Computing, Systems, and Communications, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Mohamed Abdulmalik Al-Faqih, Board Member Dr. Abdelkarim Mustafa Al-Hadhiri, as well as several department directors, officials, engineers, and employees from various departments of the company.
The lecture shed light on the difference between cybersecurity and information security, the types of cyberattacks—especially phishing—and their impact on network integrity and production stability. A real-life simulation of a phishing attack was also presented by engineers Youssef Abudabbous and Mohamed Al-Shaoush, demonstrating the mechanism of the attack, methods of detection, and ways to respond effectively.
Additionally, the automatic “Response Bot” that has been activated to receive reports of phishing or hacking attempts was showcased, highlighting its role in speeding up threat responses. Other awareness initiatives were also reviewed, such as the informational posters distributed across the company’s facilities.
